Recent Workshop Analyzes HPC in the Oil and Gas Industry

A few weeks back, Cray and VBRX (now known as XQUBE) teamed up to a host workshop focused on upstream Oil and Gas applications and the growing demands for High Performance Computing (HPC) technologies in the Oil and Gas industry. With events like this, we often spend a disproportionate amount of time promoting the event itself, rather than providing some insights into what was actually presented, discussed and shared. NCKU deploys Cray supercomputer to support life sciences research

The National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) in Taiwan recently put the high performance computing resources of a Cray supercomputer into its Computer and Network Center. The university’s new system, a Cray XE6m supercomputer, can achieve peak performance of more than 4 teraflops. Acquiring a new supercomputer is an important step for the university. The Cray XE6m system, which will be overseen by the university’s supercomputing research center, will be used for critical research that will ultimately benefit society at large.
